Family Law FAQ’s

Does an IVO affect my time with my children?

It can, significantly, even while the order is still in its early stages and nothing has been formally decided about parenting. An Intervention Order may include conditions restricting contact with your children, particularly if they’re listed as protected persons on the order.

This doesn’t happen automatically in every case, and the specific terms matter enormously. Some orders allow for supervised or arranged contact, others are far more restrictive. How the order is responded to, and how quickly proper parenting arrangements are addressed alongside it, has a real impact on outcomes.

If you’re facing a situation where an IVO is preventing or limiting contact with your children, this requires urgent, strategic attention, not a wait and see approach. We’ve put together a free guide specifically for this situation, and it’s worth getting tailored advice as early as possible given how much is at stake.
